School Developed Board Endorsed Years 7–10 Languages courses
Last Updated: 27 September 2016
As a general rule, BOSTES will only endorse School Developed Courses for implementation in Years 9–10. However, if a school wishes to deliver the 100-hours mandatory Language study in Years 7–8 in a language where there is no Board Developed course, eg in Auslan, Braille or a community language, the school may present a case for BOSTES endorsement of a course in the language in question.
Endorsement may be given in cases where:
(1) the course is needed to meet the mandatory 100-hours requirement, and
(2) the course meets appropriate BOSTES standards comparable to those applying to Board Endorsed Courses in Years 9–10.
Developing a course in a language where there is no Board Developed Course
Schools wishing to develop a course in a language where there is no Board Developed Course for Years 7–10 should contact the Board Inspector, Languages for advice. A BOSTES Language Syllabus Framework can be made available for the purpose of developing a School Developed Board Endorsed Course for Years 7–10.
